Curry

Ingredients

  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 Carrot
  • 2-3 Potatoes
  • 225 g (1/2 lb) Meat/Seafood
  • 750ml Water
  • ½ box Curry Mix

* The amount and type of vegetables and meat can be changed to your own liking
* Any type of meat can be used (ie. Chicken, beef, pork) or seafood mix, fish etc.
* Choose the level of spiciness of the curry mix to your own liking! (There’s mild, medium and hot/spicy)

Directions

  1. Cut vegetables into bite size pieces
  2. Cut meat/seafood if required
  3. Preheat a medium sized pot with vegetable oil to medium heat
  4. Add all pre-cut vegetables except potatoes into the pot and cook until onions are transparent and lightly browned.
  5. * Stir occasionally to prevent veggies from burning.
    * Turn down the heat it necessary
  6. Add potatoes, and cook slightly
  7. Add water
  8. Bring to boil, reduce heat and cover with a lid
  9. Add the curry mix once potatoes are almost completely cooked through
  10. * It’s okay if the potatoes are undercooked; You can cook the curry longer until they are cooked through
  11. Mix until the curry is completely dissolved
  12. Simmer for 5 minutes, stir constantly
  13. * be careful of overcooking! Potatoes will start to breakdown, making the curry grainy

Kumamoto Disaster Relief

In the past two years, with the help of dedicated volunteers, we have held multiple events and activities (ie. Bento Sales, Omatsuri, Movie Night, etc.) to raise money for The Great Forest Wall Project in Tohoku - an organization that focuses on rebuilding areas affected by the earthquake and tsunami that occurred on March 11th, 2011.

This year, we will continue holding fundraising events that will engage students in Japanese culture, while raising money for those affected by the recent earthquakes in Kumamoto. We hope to see new and familiar faces there, either as volunteers or as guests!
